In 2021, we established a new group company whose purpose is to act as a central function for strategic planning and operation of local nature and forestry initiatives.
We named the company Kangamiut Green Land.
Whereas seafood related sustainability activities are a natural part of the daily operation of all group companies, Kangamiut Green Land constitutes the exception: Here, we prioritize and encapsulate terrestrial nature & forestry projects that do not have an inherent relation to our core business.
To date, we have launched two local forestry projects in Kangamiut Green Land:
"Dronninggård" is a 38 hectares beautiful old forest located just a few kilometers from the Kangamiut Group & Kangamiut Seafood headquarters.
"Lykkensprøve" is our afforestation project located about 10 kilometers from our main office. In 2023 and 2024 we have planted 230.000 young trees on more than 65 hectares land and established three small lakes for biodiversity purposes.
In 2026, we acquired the neighbouring property to Lykkensprøve with the aim to expand the afforestation project with another ∼20 hectares.
The first few hectares have been planted in 2026, and the rest will be embedded in our aspiring forest in 2027.
